Alice Jackson
A former Hereford Sixth Form student says being awarded a prestigious Academic Scholarship is her biggest achievement since starting at university.
Alice Jackson,19, now a Law student at the University of Worcester, received £1,000 at a ceremony celebrating academic excellence.
“I’m so incredibly proud of myself for achieving this award,” said Alice. “This has increased my confidence and has affirmed to me that all my hard work has paid off. This has given me a huge push for continued academic success.”
Alice added: “My friends and family were extremely proud when they heard I’d been recognised for all of the hard work they’d witnessed me put into the first year of my degree.”
Alice has worked hard to achieve the Academic Scholarship and said it is her biggest achievement since joining the University of Worcester: “It represents not only the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my studies, but also the progress I’ve made in believing in my own abilities.”
She continued: “It has shown me that persistence and passion can lead to real achievement, and it has inspired me to keep challenging myself academically and personally.”
Professor Sally Moyle, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic at the University, said: “We are incredibly proud of the students who have received academic scholarships.”
The scholarships and prizes are made possible thanks to generous philanthropists, including the University’s distinguished Honorary Fellows, local employers, and many successful alumni.
University staff have also been fundraising for scholarship and hardship funds as part of the University’s two-year Anniversaries Campaign, which marks 20 years since gaining full university status in 2005 and 80 years since its founding as an emergency teacher training college in 1946.
Professor Moyle added: “These awards not only provide financial support and encouragement to deserving students but also demonstrate to potential employers the outstanding achievements of our student community.”
