Online registration

Where's my confirmation email?

You'll receive an email from us as soon as your offer to study at Worcester has been confirmed. For many this confirmation email is sent on results day (10 August 2021).

The email is sent to the address you used when you applied.

Where can I find my registration login details?

You confirmation email will include your login ID and password for accessing our Student Portal.

When logging in to the Student Portal for the first time you’ll be prompted to register for multi-factor authentication.

When you have logged onto the Student Portal, select SOLE (Student On Line Environment) and then click or tap 'Register Now'.

What is Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)?

The first time you login with your University of Worcester student account, you’ll be prompted to register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This provides an extra layer of security on your account.

You’ll need to register for MFA before you complete your online registration. Please see our Multi-Factor Authentication set-up video for help registering for this service. We recommend setting up two separate methods of authentication, the most secure being app authentication.

I’m struggling to set up MFA what should I do?

If you’re having trouble with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) registration please try the following:

  • Restart your PC
  • Clear your browser cache
  • Change your browser language settings to English
  • Go direct to aka.ms/mfasetup to start the MFA process

If you are still experiencing difficulty please contact the IT Service:

  • Call us Monday – Friday 08:30 to 17:00 on 01905 85 7500
  • Log a request or problem via the self-service portal   

What do I need to do as part of the online registration?

Registration is the process of becoming an official member of the University, this is done through our student online learning environment (SOLE). You can access SOLE via your Student Portal.

We’ll already have a lot of the information from your application form, but we will need you to check this and provide some additional information.

As part of the registration we’ll ask you to:

  • Confirm your personal details
  • Provide a term time address (where you’ll be living while studying with us)
  • Confirm your funding for the course
  • Upload a photo (similar to a photo you’d use on a passport)
  • Pick your modules (for courses with first year options)

My first year modules are all mandatory, do I need to complete this section?

If you’ve already selected your modules, or you’re studying a course with no optional modules in the first year, you’ll see a summary of your modules.

Please review these and then continue with the registration process.

How should I decide which modules to choose?

If you’d like help selecting your modules, please take a look at our module selection information. We’ll also be hosting some module selection drop-in sessions in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre (St John’s Campus), if you need further guidance when you arrive.

Why can’t I continue past the module selection?

How do I know when online registration is complete?

When you’ve successfully registered online you’ll see a ‘Certification of registration’ on screen.

You’ll need to print your certificate, or show it to us on your phone, when you come onto campus to collect your student ID card.

You can access this certificate at any time from the 'My Personal Details' tab on your SOLE page. 

How do I upload my photograph?

You’ll need to upload a photo of for yourself for your Student ID card.

You can do this through our student online learning environment (SOLE). You can access SOLE via your Student Portal.

We recommend uploading your photo straight after you’ve completed the online registration. Doing this before arriving on campus means we can have your Student ID Card ready for you when you arrive, it also means you can access your virtual ID card if needed.

When do I get my student ID card?

You’ll receive an email from us inviting you to arrive at an allocated time. The date will vary depending on your course, and whether you’re commuting or living in University accommodation.

The majority of our students will arrive between 1-10 September 2021.

When you arrive the first thing to do is collect your Student ID card. To collect your card you will need to show us some identification, so please bring with you on the day:

  • Original photo ID, such as your passport or photocard driving licence
  • Your certificate of registration - this is provided when you have fully completed your online registration. You can either bring a printed version, or show this to us on your mobile device
  • DBS Certificate - if you need one for your course

If you can’t attend on either day, you'll have other opportunities to collect your ID card from firstpoint (in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre) throughout the first few weeks of term.

When will I get my timetable?

Once you’ve completed your module selection our timetabling team are able to create your semester one timetable.  This needs to be coordinated across the whole University so please bear with us.

You’ll be able to access your academic timetable on SOLE (via the Student Portal) before your course starts.

Through SOLE you’ll also be able to see the welcome and induction schedule for your course.

Remember to download the University of Worcester Guidebook App on the App Store or Google Play.  This will tell you about events and activities taking place over the Welcome period.
