Nomination procedure

Nominations are open to all University of Worcester alumni who have graduated from their course - including those who studied at Worcester College of Higher Education.

Self-nominations and nominations on behalf of someone else are both permitted. Wherever possible, we encourage nominators to seek the consent of their nominee(s) before submitting a nomination.

Nominees can enter one category per nomination. All nominations must be made through the online submission form. The form must be submitted in English and no supporting documents are permitted (eg no CVs).

All nominators are advised to read the awards criteria carefully before submitting a nomination. It is the responsibility of the nominator to ensure that their nomination contains, to the best of their knowledge, true and accurate information about the nominee. Nominations found to be purposely false or inaccurate will be discounted as invalid nominations.

The detailed content of a nomination will be treated as confidential, but will be shared with the Alumni Awards Committee to enable them to consider the nominee for an Alumni Award. Data will be kept in accordance with GDPR regulations.

In the event that a nominee is selected as an award finalist, information within their nomination may be used as part of the Alumni Awards publicity. All nominees will be contacted to give consent for this before material is publicised.

Complete the nominations form by Tuesday 7th July.

Nominations may be amended or withdrawn by emailing Sian Gould, Head of Development, at alumni@worc.ac.uk.

Selection procedure

The Alumni Awards Committee will meet in the summer to review the applications and will select a winner for each category.

The Alumni Awards Committee decision is final. The Committee reserves the right to discount nominations that do not uphold the values of the University without notice or reason.

Winners of the categories will then be added to an Alumni Choice Award, which will open to voting from the Alumni Association to select an Alumni Choice Winner.

Winners will be informed in August. If the winners of a category do not confirm receipt of communication by the end of August, the Committee reserves the right to award the category to another nominee. If the Committee deems that there is not a suitable winner in a category, they can decide not to award.

Award winners will be invited to a celebratory event to be presented with their awards and will receive a certificate.

If any awards are sponsored, the sponsors are not involved in selecting a winner for that category.

The award nominees and winners will be celebrated through the University of Worcester’s web pages, social media, alumni newsletters and press. All nominees will be contacted in advance to give their consent for this. Nominators will also be notified as to whether their nominee has been selected to receive an award.

The University is entitled to terminate with immediate effect the alumni award to certain recipients at any given time if in its reasonable opinion the behaviour or activities of the individual/s are likely to cause reputational damage by association. In the event of termination of a particular Alumni Award, the individuals shall make reasonable efforts to remove all reference to the other party on any websites and publications.

For all queries about the Alumni Awards, please email Sian Gould, Head of Development, at alumni@worc.ac.uk.
