We recognise that people from different ethnic backgrounds have different experiences at university and in the wider world. We are committed to challenging the impact of racism by providing an environment that encourages an open, anti-racist dialogue and opposes discrimination, allowing all ethnic backgrounds to benefit from higher education.

In 2022/23 6.4% of our staff were from an ethnic minority background including Black, Asian, Arab, Chinese and Mixed, this is an increase from 6% in 2021/22.

Our student body represents at least fifteen different ethnic backgrounds. In 2022/23 this included 6.82% (4% in 2021/22) from a range of black ethnic backgrounds and 11.81% (6.5% in 2021/22) from a range of asian ethnic backgrounds.

Our students come from the United Kingdom as well as overseas and currently represent around 70 countries from Angola to Zimbabwe.

Students' Union Societies and Networks

The Worcester Students' Union is an independent charity, devoted to the education interests and welfare of all students studying at the University. 

Part of its role is to provide social, cultural', sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussions and debate for the personal development and enjoyment of all students.
