These sessions are designed for students to develop the academic English skills they need to succeed on their specific courses.
Who are they for?
Both home and international students studying on any course where academic English support would be beneficial.
How do they work?
Lecturers request these sessions for their students. The Centre then works closely with the lecturers to tailor the content to the demands of that particular subject or module.
What do they cover?
Depending on the course, sessions might focus on academic writing, reading strategies, presentation skills, critical thinking, or other language use.
How are they delivered?
The sessions are interactive and student-centred, with practical tasks. They can be taught entirely by Centre for Academic English and Skills staff, or in collaboration with subject lecturers.
How can I book a session?
Please contact:
Penny Golightly (one-off session)
Melanie Jarman (block of sessions)
Due to the popularity of the sessions, requests are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
