Holly Hughes has just finished her Dance and Performance BA Hons course at the University of Worcester and has already secured a role inspiring others as part of a Show Team at a holiday park.

“We do a Vegas tribute, we do a Summer Show, and we also host activities like bingo and game shows; there’s so much opportunity to just get yourself out there,” she said.

She added: “I get accommodation as part of the job, and I’m living with some of the other entertainment staff which is also nice, it’s a little bit like when I was at university!”

Holly’s job puts her at the heart of a dynamic entertainment role, where she can blend live performing with her people skills and her ability to entertain.

She said: “During the day we work with the children, playing games hosting parties and things like that. In the evening, we get ready for the shows and then the live entertainment starts.”

In the competitive field of entertainment, Holly was able to land a role which leant into her strengths, and meant she was being paid to perform.

“It was important for me to go straight into a role where I could perform. I didn’t want to lose that and it has been really great; I’m so glad to have been given the opportunity to do this straight away.”

“At University we looked at employability,” said Holly. “We went out to schools to speak to teachers, as teaching is a popular choice for theatre graduates, and we discussed career paths and we really talked about our personal goals. It was nice to have that kind of support.”

Holly has worked very hard to get where she is and said her time at the University of Worcester allowed her to express her creativity and explore ideas on her own.

“I really enjoyed our final module,” she said. “It was our version of a dissertation, and it was a performance. We created our own piece, and it was all down to us. We had the help of our lecturers whenever we needed it, but as a third year I was more independent by that point so I found it easier to create my own ideas and put it all into one performance.”

Holly’s journey from the university to the stage is a testament to the power of creative ambition, practical training, and the right support.

As she continues to entertain audiences and grow as a performer, her story reflects the kind of real-world success the University of Worcester aims to inspire in every graduate.
