Marisa Lewis
"I really wanted to pursue an illustration-related career path and learn more about art formally… and now I’m an Editor at 3dtotal Publishing."
Marisa Lewis studied both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Creative Media, with a focus on Illustration. Today, she works as an Editor at 3dtotal Publishing, an independent art book publisher based in Worcester.
“We make art resources and art tutorial books for artists—digital painters, aspiring concept artists, people getting into clay sculpting or traditional drawing for the first time.”
Marisa’s role offers her the chance to be involved in every stage of the publishing process.
“Every day I come into work and there’s some different creative challenge for me to tackle. One day I could be doing text corrections all day, another day I could be sitting down with a designer to talk about layout, fonts, and readability.”
“You can really take ownership of a book and be involved in every step of making it happen—from the very early kernel of an idea all the way through to getting the finished thing in the post. It’s really brilliant.”
Marisa credits her time at Worcester for helping her build the skills and confidence to turn her passion for art into a career.
“I hadn’t really studied art formally before, so I wanted to learn more about it and gain transferable skills that would help me make art into more of a career for myself.”
