High school (GCSE) requirements
You’ll need to provide evidence of English and Mathematics from high school. Below is how common Canadian qualifications compare to UK GCSEs.
GCSE English equivalents
A grade of C in Grade 11 or 12 English within the High School Diploma (where English is taken as a first language), from:
- Alberta
- Manitoba
- New Brunswick – Anglophone system
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Northwest Territories
- Nova Scotia
- Nunavut
British Columbia Certificate of Graduation:
C in Grade 11 or 12 English. Some certificates include a GPA, with GPA 3 = B and GPA 4 = A.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma:
At least Level 1 in OSSD / Ontario Academic Courses, or C in the Secondary School Graduation Diploma (DES).
Quebec Diplôme d'Études Collégiales (DEC):
Anglophone schools: English at 60%.
Francophone schools: English is taught as a second language and is not directly comparable to GCSE English.
Yukon Graduation Diploma:
At least C in Grade 11 or 12 English (minimum pass 50%).
GCSE Maths equivalent
Maths at 60%, with Grade 11 accepted.
Science requirements
If your undergraduate degree is not science-based, you’ll need:
- Two science subjects at high school level (e.g. Biology, Chemistry or Physics).
A mark of 60% is usually considered equivalent. If you’re unsure, contact us and we can check your province’s grading system.
