Phil Harris and Daniel Williams

"When I set out from university, my goal was to become a solicitor… to become a partner after was very, very satisfying."

Phil Harris and Daniel Williams both studied LLB Law, and today they’re not only practising solicitors in family law—they’ve also been made partners at their firm, Quality Solicitors Parkinson Wright in Worcestershire, just four years into their legal careers.

Phil specialises in family law, while Daniel focuses on divorce and finances. Both credit their rapid career progression to the strong foundation they built during their time at university.

“Very rarely are any two days exactly the same,” says Phil. “You’re dealing with people’s real lives, and those circumstances are often different.”

Daniel adds: “I was made partner within four years of joining the firm. I was really happy with that… it means I’ve reached the goals I set out when I left university.”

Both credit the University of Worcester for preparing them well, not just academically, but with practical legal skills that gave them a head start in their careers.

“Some of the assignments we had were to write client letters, do client interviews, or even mooting or mock advocacy,” says Daniel. “I found myself better prepared by the University of Worcester.”

Phil agrees: “The lecturing was fantastic. Lecturers had plenty of time for me, and it’s a great way to hone and develop a lot of transferable skills that will do you very well in your professional career, whatever that may be. It’s a very versatile degree.”
