The University of Worcesterís two Academic Writers in Residence are here to help.


Professional, published writers and Royal Literary Fund Fellows, Judith Allnatt and Karen Wallace offer confidential, one-to-one tutorials for students in all subject areas and to support all aspects of academic writing. Our free service is provided by the Royal Literary Fund which sponsors over 80 writers to work in universities across the UK.

Judith Allnatt

Judith Allnattís novels have been shortlisted for the Portico Prize and the East Midlands Book Award and featured as a Radio 5 Live Book of the Month. Her most recent novel is The Silk Factory, an eerie story of love and memory.

Karen Wallace

Karen Wallace has written over 300 children's books. Both fiction and non-fiction. Her first picture book, Think of an Eel, won awards on both sides of the Atlantic. Her first novel, Raspberries on the Yangtze, was shortlisted for the Guardian Young Fiction Prize.

Booking sessions

Tutorials with Judith†(who covers Mondays and Tuesdays) and Karen (who covers Wednesdays and Thursdays) take place on St Johnís Campus, last 45 minutes and can be booked by emailing us direct, or via rlfwriterinresidence@worc.ac.uk. Please ensure that you use your UW email address.

Please note that we cannot give advice by email, and we also do not provide a proof-reading service or support with basic English language skills. Otherwise, we look forward to hearing from you!
