The exhibition follows the University’s School of Arts Degree Show, where final-year students across a wide range of arts-based creative disciplines showcased their work in person to friends and families alongside an awards ceremony celebrating standout pieces.

More than 100 students are exhibiting their work from disciplines including Animation, Filmmaking, Fine Art, Game Art, Graphic Design, illustration, Journalism and more.

Dr Mark Flisher, Head of the Institute of Arts and Humanities, said: “One of the highlights of the Institute of Arts and Humanities calendar is the final degree show.”

“It exhibits the region’s next generation of artists and offers a glimpse into the future of arts practice.”

The launch event was attended by hundreds of students and their friends and families, as well as distinguished guests of the University and representatives from local organisations who had sponsored prizes which were awarded on the night.

Final-year student Hannah Jenkins, winner of the 3d Total Digital Illustration Prize, said: “I was very shocked to win! Very grateful, but also very surprised!”

Hannah had created a mixture of feltwork and digital illustration inspired by nature and featuring lots of different animals.

The judges were impressed at the level of Hannah exhibited in both digital and handmade art.

“As an artist, you do so much work in private,” said Hannah. “Here at the Degree Show it’s so nice to be able to share my work with people, and it has been great to see everyone’s reactions as they walk past.”

The exhibition is open from daily from 10-4pm from May 22 until May 28, excluding the bank holiday.
