The 2026 ceremony brought together practice supervisors, assessors, educators and clinical teams from across the region to recognise the difference they make in shaping the next generation of health and social care professionals.

The awards highlight the individuals and teams who create supportive, inclusive and high-quality learning environments for students studying Nursing, Midwifery, Medicine, allied health and social care professions.

Professor Sally Moyle, Pro Vice Chancellor Academic at the University, said: “Our Excellence in Practice Learning Awards recognise the generosity, skill and commitment of the professionals who support our students while they are on placement. Their guidance not only builds students’ confidence and competence but also instils the compassion and professionalism that define outstanding health and social care. We are deeply grateful to all those who work in partnership with us to inspire and shape the next generation of practitioners.”

More than 20 awards were presented, recognising excellence across a wide range of disciplines. Awards also recognised outstanding teams and practice environments, as well as Head of School awards across the University’s health and care schools.

Student nominations played a central role in the awards, with many sharing powerful testimonials about the impact the winners had on their confidence, wellbeing and professional growth.

One student described their supervisor as “a kind of professional I aspire to be”, while another said their mentor’s guidance and encouragement “had a significantly positive impact on my placement experience and my development as a future healthcare professional”.

Others praised individuals for creating meaningful learning opportunities, offering constructive feedback, and modelling compassionate, evidence-based care that will shape their careers for years to come.
