Dr Thomas Butsch DBA
At the same time as working as a CEO and owner of a company with over 100 employees, Dr Thomas Butsch, graduated from his DBA after only 3 years of study.
Researching how owner-led small and medium companies transitioned from a hierarchical organization into a self-managed organisation, Dr Butsch’s study was the first of its kind in this sector. By interviewing owners of such companies to collect their experiences, he gained substantial insight into the experiences of owners and employees alike. Dr Butsch has subsequently published four peer-reviewed articles with further plans to publish.
Completing his studies as a distance student in Germany, Dr Butsch cited the excellent support from his supervisors and the accessibility of the online course materials.
He said of finishing his studies, “on the one hand, it feels great to have completed the journey; on the other hand, there is also a sense of sadness that it has come to an end. It was a demanding period with many responsibilities that are now suddenly gone, which feels a little like retirement. Overall, I am very proud of what I have achieved.”
