Charlotte is currently an ACA trainee working in the tax department at Hazlewoods LLP, in Cheltenham. She said: “I still have plenty of hard work ahead of me, but I can’t wait to become an ICAEW chartered accountant at the end of my three-year training contract.”

Charlotte was on a placement year at Hazelwoods LLP when the pandemic began. “I had to use lots of initiative and become very flexible working from home rather than in the office. The University continued to stay in contact with me and offered plenty of support, which carried on into my final year. Although I couldn’t see my peers as much as I would have liked during my final year, I am very excited that we can still attend graduation together in November to celebrate our successes.”

Charlotte achieved First Class Honours in her degree. “I am extremely proud and happy to have achieved a First Class Honours accounting degree after all the hard work and dedication I put into it,” she said. “I am even more pleased that I can share my result with my family and their reactions have made the hard work even more worthwhile.”

Among Charlotte’s other achievements during university were winning an Academic Scholarship from the University during her second year for outstanding grades and the Haines Watts excellence in audit award during her final year and the Hereford & Worcester Chamber of Commerce Prize for Outstanding Performance in Accountancy, Finance & Economics.

“I chose to study at the University of Worcester because of the beautiful city and the wonderful business campus,” she added. “As well as the great scenery the exemptions offered on the accounting course towards my professional exams drew me in.”
