This Partnership aims to meet the initial teacher education requirements of the postgraduate programmes which leads to eligibility to apply for Qualified Teacher Status Learning and Skills (QTLS), the first step in the  professional formation process for the FE and Skills sector. QTLS is equivalent to schools’ QTS qualification.

We offer subject specialist development in the following subject clusters:  English (Level 2 and above, literacy and ESOL) Sport (including outdoor education, dance  and supporting public services), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Performing Arts, Art and Design and Health and Social Care. Many of our regional Partnership settings have long established relationships with the university to include teacher training, professional development of teaching and non- teaching staff, research and award bearing accreditation.

The Partnership mentoring network is critical to the success of the programme and provides trainees with high quality training experiences.

Excellent employment opportunities exist with our partners with some trainees being employed in partner settings.

Partners are actively involved in contributing to the programme through collaboration with the course team, delivery of some sessions and as members of the Partnership Advisory Group (PAG). This ensures our trainees have strong curriculum and skills knowledge, pedagogic expertise and an understanding of the social justice contexts of the sector.

Settings have an integral role in maintaining consistency, coherency and the high quality of all aspects of the training through an active participation as members of the strategic leadership and management of the programmes, moderation and quality assurance processes. Sector-based colleagues offer expertise by involving themselves in university-based teaching, and similarly, university-based colleagues work in a wide range of ways in sector contexts.

The FE partnership benefits from the diversity of settings within the partnership; from small, specialist colleges in the Worcestershire and Herefordshire  to large, urban settings in the Black Country, Birmingham, Coventry, Warwick as well as Worcester city.
