Stevan's life’s journey got off to a rocky start, involving educational failure, unemployment, homelessness, and juvenile delinquency. After working underground as a Coal Miner at Thoresby Colliery he enlisted in the Royal Navy, was commissioned, and reached the rank of Captain during a career that saw him hold a wide range of demanding posts at sea, ashore and abroad. Along the way, he planned and led expeditions that made notable ascents of some of the hardest routes on the world's highest mountains.
This background helped develop his resilience and taught him what it takes to overcome serious adversity and how to achieve good personal and organisational results. Since leaving the RN, he has been a leader at the most senior levels in private, not-for-profit, and profit-for-purpose businesses. He is also a performance coach, mentor, university lecturer, published author, and public speaker.
He chairs a private advisory board that provides a platform for ambitious CEOs to connect and become better leaders, make better decisions, and get better results. There is significant pressure on leaders to figure everything out alone and his group provides a ‘safe space’ where CEOs and business owners can talk confidentially about their biggest challenges, fears, dilemmas, and opportunities.
