Dave studied for his undergraduate degree at the University of Worcester and went on to complete his PGCE at the same location. For 11 years, Dave has had a very successful teaching career and has held a range of posts within the sector, including Director of Sport, Professional Mentor and One to One tuition co-ordinator. He joined the University of Worcester in April 2018 bringing with him a wealth of practical and theoretical knowledge.

It was during his time as Professional Mentor that his passion for developing trainee teachers really came to the forefront. Having previously been a subject mentor for PE, his role as Professional Mentor meant working with 6 different ITT providers, which broadened his experience.

Dave has worked closely with the Institute of Education at the University over a number of years, in particular as part of the recruitment process for both the PGCE and School Direct PE courses. He has an extensive range of coaching experiences and qualifications and is committed to continuing his professional development in these areas. Unsurprisingly, in his spare time, Dave enjoys participating in a range of sports, particularly running and cycling over the Malvern Hills. Teaching was an early passion for Dave and he now hopes to instil this enthusiasm in students who are about to embark on this profession.

In 2019, Dave was awarded Fellowship from the Chartered College Of Teaching. This is awarded to those educators who have been in the profession for 10 years or more and recognises their significant contribution to the teaching profession.
