Graduation will be extra special for Caleigh-May Soule after taking time out in her third year to have her first child, who will be there to see his mum proudly accept her award.
Caleigh-May will graduate alongside her fellow students in the beautiful and historic Worcester Cathedral after completing a degree in Paramedic Science.
“I always wanted to be part of the ambulance service because I wanted help give back to people in the community and be there for individuals in the worst time of their lives,” she said.
Caleigh-May was working as a Healthcare Assistant before joining the University during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I feel super proud to be graduating,” she said. “I took time out of my third year when I had my son and went back to university when he was only four months old. I feel proud and excited for him to be at my graduation.”
Caleigh-May, who has now secured a job with Southwest Ambulance Service, encouraged others to follow their dreams.
“I was in care as a child and for care leavers to even get into university and then finish is very far and few between,” she said. “I had so much resilience and determination to want my life to be different for the future. I'm so proud of myself that I have completed university as a care leaver and with a baby who has just turned one. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Always follow your dreams.”
