The Infirmary is a permanent exhibition of the collections of the George Marshall Medical Museum, and as such is not able accept donations from members of the public. The George Marshall Medical Museum welcomes object donations, including books, photographs and uniform. As with many museums, the stores are nearing capacity and there is strict collecting criteria to ensure the size of collection to one which can be cared for in perpetuity. Criteria includes relevance to Worcestershire and the West Midlands, number or type of similar objects already in the collection, and condition of the object(s) for long-term preservation and display.
The George Marshall Medical Museum also accepts objects, in good condition, where they would not be suitable for the main collection for the designated handling collection . These objects are used to enthuse and engage students and members of the public in the history of medicine. If you would like to donate an object, contact Mark Macleod at The Infirmary or Louise Price, Curator of the George Marshall Medical Museum on +44 (0)1905 760738 or e-mail Louise.Price@worcsacute.nhs.uk.
