The Social Pedeagogy Research Group

The Social Pedagogy Research Group focuses on the study and development of social pedagogy as an approach to supporting individuals, particularly in the fields of education, care, and social work. Social pedagogy combines educational theory with social care practices to foster holistic, person-centred approaches that promote the well-being and development of children and young people. The group conducts research that explores how social pedagogy can improve learning, care, and community engagement, with an emphasis on building positive relationships, supporting emotional and social development, and enhancing inclusion. Researchers in this group collaborate with practitioners to implement and evaluate social pedagogy in real-world settings, influencing policy and practice in both the UK and internationally.

The Social Psychology of Education Research Group

The Social Psychology of Education Research Group focuses on understanding the psychological processes that shape educational experiences and outcomes. This group explores how social factors—such as group dynamics, identity, social influence, and peer relationships—impact learning, teaching, and student development. Researchers examine the roles of motivation, self-esteem, and social interactions in the classroom, as well as how educational settings can foster positive psychological well-being.

By combining theoretical research with practical applications, the group aims to improve educational practices and enhance the experiences of students and educators alike.

The Inclusion by Design Research Group

The Inclusion by Design Research Group at the University of Worcester focuses on promoting inclusive practices within education and related fields. The group explores how educational systems, policies, and practices can be intentionally designed to support diversity, equality, and inclusion, ensuring that all learners, regardless of background or ability, have equitable opportunities to succeed. The group's research spans a variety of areas, including inclusive teaching strategies, accessibility, social justice, and the development of supportive learning environments. Through collaboration with schools, organisations, and community partners, the group works to develop innovative approaches that foster an inclusive culture, reduce barriers to learning, and improve outcomes for marginalised groups. Their research is both practical and transformative, aimed at creating more inclusive educational systems that benefit everyone.
