A Worcester graduate says receiving a prestigious award has given him confidence in his ability to achieve his goals as he prepares for further study.

Oliver Taylor-Bradley has just completed his Physical Education and Sports Coaching Degree at the University of Worcester and has been awarded the Ken Charles Memorial Basketball History Award.

“Receiving this award in recognition for the hard work I put into my dissertation fills me with happiness and confidence, and reminds me of how much the University of Worcester has helped me grow both personally and academically,” said Oliver, 21, and from Worcester.

He said: “This award can help me in the future, as it shows I am capable of doing things I put my mind to. It also shows my resilience, hard work, and belief in myself in completing work of a high standard in busy environments.”

Oliver graduated from the institution that has been named Daily Mail University of the Year for Graduate Jobs 2027, and is the UK’s leading multi-subject university for sustained graduate employment, further study or both one year after graduation. He received his award and degree during a week of graduation ceremonies held at Worcester Cathedral from September 8-10.

The aspiring PE teacher is already planning to study for his PGCE and said that the skills he has already gained from Worcester will play a role in helping him achieve Qualified Teacher Status.

“Worcester has taught me lifelong skills that are transferable and has provided me with opportunities to achieve both academically and in football, where I captained the first team for two years, and was Chairman of the club in my final year,” he said.

“Having these opportunities has made me the person I am today, and receiving this award fills me with happiness.”
