A newly qualified teacher says she’s both surprised and honoured as she receives her degree alongside a prestigious prize recognising her achievements during her course.

Mollie Bryant-Jones has completed her PGCE Secondary in History at the University of Worcester and is delighted to have graduated while receiving the Becky Davidge Award for going above and beyond in teaching and making a difference to young people’s lives.

Mollie, 26, from Kidderminster, has already secured a job as a history teacher at a secondary school in London.

She said: “I’m completely honoured and surprised to get this award. I wouldn’t have been able to complete the year without the support of my peers, family and my mentors.”

Mollie is graduating from the institution that has been named Daily Mail University of the Year for Graduate Jobs 2027, and is the UK’s leading multi-subject university for sustained graduate employment, further study or both one year after graduation. She received her award and degree during a week of graduation ceremonies held at Worcester Cathedral from September 8-10.

“This award will encourage me to keep going when times are difficult or intense,” said Mollie, who also served as a Course Representative for her peers while studying. She  added. “I’m making a difference in students’ lives, and that’s the reason I enjoy this job. Returning to education four years after completing my BSc, I worried about assessments, time management, and everything else that comes with a PGCE year, but this has proved that persistence and dedication can take you very far.”

Professor Sally Moyle, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Worcester said: “We’re incredibly proud of all of our graduates, especially those who have been recognised with awards for going above and beyond during their studies.”
