Worcester Graduate Wins Severn Arts Creative Entrepreneur Award
A Worcester art graduate says a prestigious award has given her confidence in her creative abilities as she prepares to pursue a career as a tattoo artist.
Maddison Dilloway has just finished her degree in Illustration and Fine Art at the University of Worcester and has won the Severn Arts Creative Entrepreneur Award for achievements during her studies.
“I created a self-led brief setting out where I wanted to go in my career, including how Severn Arts could help me achieve it, along with a visual portfolio,” explained Maddison, 23, from Worcester.
“Receiving this award held a lot of significance for me” she added. “As artists, I think we often grapple with doubting our work, so being chosen by amazing working creatives based on my showcased pieces acts as a validation of my practice and its place within the creative professional world.”
Maddison, who aspires to become a tattoo artist, is graduating from the institution that has been named Daily Mail University of the Year for Graduate Jobs 2027, and is the UK’s leading multi-subject university for sustained graduate employment, further study or both one year after graduation. She received her award and degree during a week of graduation ceremonies held at Worcester Cathedral from September 8-10.
“My time at Worcester has given me a lot of confidence in myself and my work,” she said. “As an artist working with unconventional themes, I find it challenging to visualise my work functioning in real-world briefs, so this award will help me explore different avenues and adapt my discipline.”
Professor Sally Moyle, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Worcester, said: “We’re incredibly proud of all of our graduates, especially those who have been recognised with awards for going above and beyond during their studies.”
