The course provides opportunities to test understanding and learning informally through the completion of practice or 'formative' assignments. Each module has one or more formal or 'summative' assessments which are graded and count towards the overall module grade.
Assessment methods include productions (both performance and other non-performance tasks e.g. technical/scenographic/stage management); the creation of tour and marketing packs for productions, completion of funding applications; blogs and research presentations into the landscape of contemporary touring theatre.
The precise assessment requirements for an individual student in an academic year will vary according to the mandatory and optional modules taken, but a typical formal summative assessment pattern for each year of the course is:
60% Individual or group performance
40% Essay, presentation, blog, portfolio, viva or reflective commentary
Example 1: 100% Group Production
Example 2: 60% practical /40% Essay, presentation, blog, portfolio, viva or reflective commentary
Example 1: 100% Group Production (including non-performance tasks such as marketing, technical design, education packs)
Example 2: 60% Small group practical/40% research presentation
100% Group Production (including marketing, technical design etc)
