Professor Brooker brings a wealth of experience in applied practice research and has a long track record of leading multi-method evaluations of complex interventions across health, social care and third sector service delivery.

Teaching

Professor Dawn Brooker is an active teacher, lecturer and supervisor. She has been instrumental in developing and delivering curricula across a wide range of dementia care topics. Under her leadership, the Association for Dementia Studies has worked in partnership with many NHS Trusts, Local Authorities and care providers to provide specialist education and training for professionals and care staff working in care homes, hospitals and in peoples’ own homes. She is responsible for the development of much of the curricula within the courses offered by ADS including the fully online PG Cert in Person-Centred Dementia Studies.

Knowledge Transfer

Dawn is a strong proponent of developing practical tools and resources to help people implement person-centred care. Dawn has also contributed to a number of television and radio broadcasts. It is part of the ethos of ADS that all research projects should have a practical application. Some of this has been achieved through the publication of practical guidebooks and the development of free website resources.
