Niki lectures on the BA (Hons) Primary Initial Teacher Education degree and also on the PGCE in Primary Education.She is part of the primary mathematics team and is leader for the year 2 undergraduate mathematics module. She works as a school experience tutor, and personal academic tutor as part of Primary ITT. She also provides professional development opportunities for practising teachers and teaching assistants in the region.

Niki has over 20 years of experience teaching in primary schools in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire. In that time she has been part of senior leadership teams with specific responsibility to supporting the teaching and learning of mathematics. She has also worked as a Primary Consultant for Herefordshire Local Authority supporting teachers across the county to develop and improve their own practice.

Teaching Interests

Niki teaches on both undergraduate and post graduate courses in ITT.  She is passionate about primary mathematics teaching and about how teachers can most effectively enable children to be both confident and competent mathematical thinkers.

Research Interests

Good pedagogy and the use of quality text books in primary mathematics.
Curriculum coverage in depth through low access, high ceiling tasks.
