A new network for leaders in early years settings is launching to connect practitioners, let them share expertise and provide professional support.
The network, which is free to join, is founded by a team from University of Worcester’s Institute of Education with funding from the British Educational Leadership, Management & Administration Society (BELMAS).
It launches at a free event in the at The Hive Library on 7 September, from 4-6pm.
This network aims to meet the specific needs of leaders in early years education, a sector that lacks the same degree of funding, training, and support as schools.
Dr Madeleine Findon, Senior Lecturer at the University of Worcester, said: “Early years leaders work with an incredibly diverse range of people, from young children and their families to staff with very different levels of experience and qualifications.”
She added: “Our network provides a space for leaders to come together, share good practice and access support that helps them navigate these challenges.”
“The early years sector is constantly responding to new policies, regulations, and ways of working,” added Dr Findon. “Leaders told us they wanted a community where they could learn from others, share expertise and gain practical tools to help them manage change.”
The network has been co-designed with early years leaders to provide a space where they can come together, share good practice, discuss what leadership means in early years education, and access support and resources to help them on their leadership journey.
Dr Findon said: “The network is open to anyone who identifies themselves as a leader in early years education, whether that’s a setting manager, room leader, reception class teacher, or someone working in a local authority role.”
“The network offers you the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges,” she added.
