Monthly swim and run event coming to Worcester

GO TRI Local Lakeside Aquathlon will be held at University of Worcester, Lakeside Campus for the first time on Saturday (14 May), where people wanting to take part in a combined swim and run event on a fully off-road course.

After the first event this Saturday, GO TRI Local Lakeside Aquathlon will take place at the same location every month. No experience is needed with GO TRI Local the perfect opportunity for people brand new to swim, bike, run to get involved.

Following the pre-event briefing at 10am, the event will start with a 100m open water swim, fully supported by qualified lifeguards, followed by a 1.25km off-road run around the university campus.

All GO TRI Local events are only £5.00 to enter with GO TRI Local Lakeside Aquathlon organised by University of Worcester, in partnership with Triathlon England.

Speaking ahead of the first GO TRI Local Lakeside Aquathlon, Francesca Coakley, University of Worcester Lakeside Campus Supervisor and Triathlon Event Director, said: “We are really looking forward to our monthly GO TRI Local events at the University of Worcester and encouraging more people to have a go at swim, bike, run.

“We feel our venue is perfect for those just venturing into the world of multisport by providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all and look forward to building the momentum for future events throughout the year.”

GO TRI Local is a new offer as part of the new Triathlon England development strategy ‘The BIG Active’. The strategy is designed to increase access to and participation in swim, bike, run, giving more people the opportunity to experience and enjoy swim, bike, run in both its component parts and in its various combined formats.
