Preparing for your selection event

If you have any questions ahead of your selection event, you can contact the Nursing Admissions Team at nursingadmissions@worc.ac.uk.

Practical advice

First of all, check your invitation email to see whether you have an in-person or online interview. If it's in-person you'll also see whether it's in Worcester or Dudley.

Disability, including learning disability, will be taken into consideration – please contact us before your selection event if you require any specific adjustments.

If you can’t make the selection event time/date that we’ve given you, don’t worry – you can email admissionsc@worc.ac.uk to ask for an alternative day. It’s useful if you can include your UCAS personal ID/student number as well as your full name and the selection day/time that we’ve allocated to you.

Resources to help you prepare

To prepare for your selection event, you should reflect on why you want to be a nurse and any experience and skills/traits you have that may be relevant, as the selection event will focus on these. Watch this video for more informaton on what to expect.

Below are some relevant online resources that we’d also recommend taking a look at ahead of your selection event:

What to bring

You’ll need to show photographic ID at your selection event, such as a driving licence or passport.

If you’re planning to drive to the selection event at Worcester, you can print out a parking permit to display in your car for free parking in any of our car parks – apart from Car Park A – on the day.  Download your parking permit.

It’s a good idea to bring a pen and paper along, in case you want to make any notes or jot down any questions.

We don’t require formal clothes for the selection event, so please just wear what you’re comfortable in as you would wear day-to-day.

Worcester arrival information

Your selection event will take place at our St John’s Campus (WR2 6AJ). Remember to check your email for confirmation of the interview location.

We recommend aiming to arrive around 30 minutes before your selection event, to allow enough time park, find your way across campus and sign in ahead of your selection event.

During busy periods car parking can be limited on campus, so arriving early to find a space will help ensure you have plenty of time in hand.

Once you’ve arrived on campus, please make your way to our Main Reception, in the Edward Elgar Building (just a few minutes’ walk from any of our car parks on the campus), where you’ll see a Nursing selection event desk. One of our friendly student ambassadors will meet you there, sign you in and take you to the right room.

Dudley arrival information

Your selection event will take place at The Institute of Technology in Dudley (DY1 4AL). Remember to check your email for confirmation of the interview location.

There is a large, free car park directly opposite the building. If you have mobility or access needs, a smaller, free car park with disabled bays is located immediately outside the entrance.

On arrival, please come to reception and one of our team will meet you and lead you through to your interviewer.

Format for the day

Once you have signed in at the Nursing selection event desk, you’ll be taken to a waiting area where you can relax ahead of your selection event timeslot.

When it’s time for your selection event, you’ll be shown to the relevant room. You will meet a member of the lecturing team for up to 30 minutes to have a conversation on why you are interested in Nursing, your own personal values and qualities, the role of a nurse and teamwork.

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask the Nursing team any questions you have at the end of the selection event too.

During the day, you’ll also get chance to take an optional campus tour, which will last around half an hour.
