Early Intervention
The aim of the Early Intervention theme is to identify ways in which to identify and address the needs of people who may be developing (or at risk of developing) SMI within rural settings, with a particular emphasis on under-served groups.
The theme recognises that severe mental illness is often not identified until crisis point in rural communities due to isolation, limited access to services and stigma.
This theme is led by Professor Liz Hughes. Key collaborators include Professor Jo Smith, Professor Barnaby Major and Professor Matthew Broome (University of Birmingham).
