Development opportunities for my organisation
The Association for Dementia Studies team, led by Professor Dawn Brooker, have a track record in providing consistently high quality education and training. As a multidisciplinary team from a wide variety of professions we are able to create an education package that meets the needs of your workforce. Education courses can be delivered at a location that is convenient to your employees.
During the contracting process we will work with you to ensure that we understand the learning outcomes that you require from the education, and the course will be developed to meet these outcomes.
We work from a position of evidence-based practice. We bring to all our workshops and courses the latest and most up-to-date evidence from research and best practice. We work from an international perspective, drawing on an international evidence base.
We can provide you with evaluation of the improvements in confidence and knowledge of the staff who attend. We can also undertake an assessment of impact of the training on practice in your care setting by completing a more in-depth evaluation.
As well as bespoke non-accredited education courses, the Association for Dementia Studies is able to work with partners to develop university accredited modules. For example, ADS has worked with Dementia UK to develop a university module for Admiral Nurses.
For examples of how we have worked with a number of different providers, please see our case studies below.
This award, generously funded by June Hennell MBE in memory of her husband Brian, is open to anyone who has attended a course facilitated by ADS.
The Association for Dementia Studies is an active member of the Higher Education for Dementia Network (HEDN), which is supported by Dementia UK. As part of its commitment to improve professional education in dementia care, HEDN has developed a Curriculum for Dementia Education (CDE). The curriculum is designed to guide Higher Education providers in the key areas for inclusion in courses related to dementia care, at both pre-registration and post-qualifying levels.
