Students scored the institution highly for its sports scene in Which? University's independent annual Student Survey.

Pollsters gathered and analysed the views of nearly 9,000 undergraduates across the UK.

Mick Donovan, Head of the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science, said: "We are proud that students have rated us so highly. It reflects not only the quantity, quality and variety of sports and societies that students can take part in here, but also the significant investment we have made to provide state-of-the-art sporting facilities. This includes the fully accessible University of Worcester Arena, which has hosted numerous regional, national and international sport and disability sport fixtures and events, including being the training base of the British Wheelchair Basketball team in the years leading up to the Rio Paralympics, the home of the Severn Stars netball team and the Worcester Wolves Basketball team. Students are able to make full use of the Arena in numerous sports activities that range from watching and participating in elite sport to playing at BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) or recreational levels.

"We believe this positive feedback also stems from the University's success in educating the next generation of coaches with the knowledge and expertise to work across a range of elite level and grass roots disciplines, regardless of ability or disability. The University is internationally recognised for its approach to inclusive sport, and has been involved in discussions with the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Committee on planning a legacy for its games. We hope our students will continue to benefit from the sporting opportunities we have to offer and the sporting links we have, not only locally, but on the international stage."

Alex Hayman, Which? Managing Director of Public Markets, said: "For many people university is much more than just an academic destination, so seeing how current students rate their universities on things like nightlife, student unions and sports can be really helpful when choosing where to study.

"It's important to do your research and look into all aspects of study and life at different universities before making your decision."
