The British Society of Sports History (BSSH) conference will take place at the University's Severn Campus, from September 1st to 2nd 2017.

Amongst the highlights are keynote presentations from two pre-eminent figures within the field: Professor Tony Collins, winner of the Lord Aberdare Literary Prize for 2015, and Professor Mike Cronin, who will deliver the Sir Derek Birley Memorial lecture at this year's conference.

Dr Geoff Kohe, Senior Lecturer in Sports Studies and Sociology at the University of Worcester, and Chair of the conference organising committee, said, "We want to encourage a broad debate and an engaging dialogue at this year's event, so we have an open mind and would welcome contributions from across as diverse an array of topics as possible.

"We are also particularly keen this year to promote the work of postgraduate researchers or those who are in the early years of their academic career. To help support this aim the BSSH will pay the conference fee and accommodation costs of any contributors who meet this criteria."

Other highlights of this year's conference include a conference dinner to be held at Worcestershire County Cricket Club's picturesque river-side New Road ground, as well as opportunities to explore the cultural, historic, and sporting delights of the beautiful cathedral city of Worcester.
