A top Nursing student at the University of Worcester is tackling one of the world's highest mountain's later this month in aid of a Tanzanian hospital.
Andrew Jesson, who last month was shortlisted as Student Nurse of the Year by the Student Nursing Times, is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, along with his brother, David Walker.
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, standing almost 6,000 metres above sea level.
"We both have a great sense of adventure and wish to accomplish it together," said 26-year-old Andrew, from Solihull. "We've both been doing general fitness training, roughly 4 sessions a week of running, weights, trekking etc."
Andrew, a third year Adult Nursing student at the University, will make the climb on May 27th, before starting a four-week placement at Muheza Hospital in Tanzania.
"Alongside this I will have the opportunity to work in Muheza Hospice, whose aim is to provide quality palliative care to adults and children with life limiting conditions such as HIV," he said. "They are just one of three hospices throughout Tanzania and provide some of the poorest people around the world with essential and humane treatment such as pain management."
Andrew added: "David and I are both thoroughly excited on a personal level and feel proud to be raising funds for such an amazing and worthwhile cause."
