Tasks to prepare for

Group task

The first task you complete for your interview is a group task. You will meet other people who are planning to study social work at the university. Please read the group task

Scenarios

One of the questions that you will be asked as part of your 1:1 interview will be based on one of these scenarios. Please read the scenarios in advance of your interview. 

Written task

The Admissions Team will send you a written task on the morning of your interview. This involves reading an article and answering some specific questions. This will need to be emailed back to us by 3pm. 

Disability, including learning disability, will be taken into consideration – please contact us before your selection event if you require any specific adjustments. 

Microsoft Teams

The interview sessions will be on MS Teams. Ensure you have access to this software and are aware of the basic functions such as turning your microphone on and off and you know how to turn your camera on.

What to expect on the day

Interview group task social work

Format for the day

Welcome

An introduction to the University of Worcester by course team members. You will meet some members from IMPACT.  The group consists of people with lived experience and carers who assist with social work training at the university. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the course.  

Group exercise

We will provide details for the group work and put candidates into groups for this exercise via Teams. This exercise will last approximately 30 minutes.  

Individual interview

These interviews will take place between 10.30 – 16.00 hours (UK time) on the selection day, so you will need to ensure you are available for interview during that time.  The Admissions team will send you a link for MS Teams to join. If the time is not suitable click the reschedule button on the email. During the interview, we will ask you a range of questions about your application and ask you to consider one of the two scenarios (attached) within the interview. You can choose which scenario you prefer during the interview.  The interview will last approximately 30 minutes.  

Written exercise 

A written task will be sent to you on the day of the interview by our Admissions team and you will need to return your task to them by 15.00 (UK time) on the day.    

We want you to enjoy this interview experience - it is not a test. We are looking for your strengths and potential. You'll even get to meet people from all over the world. 

After the interview

Usually, we will aim to let you know the outcome of your selection day within one working day of your interview. The interview panel will be happy to answer any questions you have about this.

You will be sent a Microsoft Teams link. Click on the Join this meeting link at the specified time. Your interview will be with a Social Work academic and a Person with Lived experience from IMPACT
