Teaching & Research

Gill is a senior lecturer in forensic psychology and pathway lead for the BSc in Forensic Psychology. She came to her current role from the University of Lincoln, and as a distance-learning tutor on both the MSc in Forensic Psychology at Liverpool University, and the BSc in Psychology at the University of East London. Her main research interests are around the investigation and understanding of violence, particularly sexual violence and domestic abuse. Gill is particularly interested in the investigation of false allegations of sexual offences, the effectiveness of bystander intervention programmes in addressing sexual and domestic violence on university campuses, and the link between pet abuse and domestic violence. Gill has applied forensic psychology within a range of police investigations, and is particularly interested in the use of analytical methods to categorise offenders and link offences. Her work in this area includes advising police officers on cases of false allegations, and evaluating the effectiveness police forces strategies with regards to recognising and respond to vulnerability. Gill is also a member of the IHS Ethics Committee and the admissions tutor for the Psychology programme.
