If required, applying for your visa is an essential part to international study. You can find out more information on what a visa is, how to apply for a visa, and how to gain a CAS letter.

Immigration and visas

Students who are not UK or Irish nationals need to have some form of immigration permission to study in the UK. Most students will be sponsored under the student route if they do not hold another type of immigration permission (such as the EU settlement scheme) which already allows study in the UK.

The University of Worcester is a Higher Education Provider (HEP) with a track record of compliance, which allows us to sponsor international students.

To apply for your Student Route visa, you need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) number from us. We will send this to you once you have met all the offer conditions, confirmed your place and met any eligibility criteria for the CAS. You may need to attend a credibility interview before a CAS is issued, which satisfies that you are a genuine student and that your English Language ability is at the correct level.

This process is undertaken by our Admissions and International Experience Teams. The earliest we can issue a CAS to applicants is 6 months before the course start date (provided all the conditions are met).

Once you have your CAS and have prepared your supporting documents you will then be able to complete your visa application on student visa. You should ensure to do this as soon as possible to allow sufficient time to arrive. For information on current visa application processing times please visit visa decision waiting times: applications outside the UK on the UK government website.

The Home Office may contact you about your application via email therefore you must regularly check the email account that you used in your visa application (including your spam/junk folders). If you receive any communications from the Home Office you must respond to them as soon as possible.

We want to give our international students all the support they need to meet their immigration conditions. We don't want you to have any problems with your visa, so our Admissions and International Experience teams are available to help you through the process and we will be in regular contact with applicants.
