The UW study skills website aims to support students in their academic studies and skills development. We have a wide range of resources and support that you can refer your students to either online or some resources can be found in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre:  

Study skills workshops
UW run a programme of study skills workshops, these are free sessions, open to all students on a self-referral basis. Students can attend as many sessions as they decide they need. Workshops cover topics such as essay & report writing and making presentations. The current study skill workshop programme is available from here.

One-to-one English/ writing support 
One-to-one support is available to all students to discuss any aspect of English or writing such as grammar, style or structure. Time: 12.30-14.30 every weekday during the University teaching semester at the Peirson Study & Guidance Centre. For more details & for booking:

Writer in residence
We have two professional writers available on campus to help students with their writing, they can give practical, one-to-one advice on essay writing skills and/or general writing techniques. Students can make an appointment by emailing:

Study skills advice sheets
There are a range of study skill advice sheets covering topics such as: essay and report writing; making oral presentations; taking notes and working in groups. Students can pick up any or all of the titles from firstpoint or download them from the study skills home page.

Learn Higher
LearnHigher is a staff online resource aimed at improving student learning by providing excellent resources to support students' learning development, and through practice-led research into the effective use of those resources.

Moving On
‘Moving On’ is a very useful study skills online resource aimed at students returning to education after a break. It covers topics such as: preparing for study, academic writing and teaching methods at university, and includes exercises and tasks for students to practice their skills. Students can download a copy from the study skills home page.
