Booking & Cancelling Courses

To book any staff development workshops please use the staff homepage to log into the staff portal, go to the Staff Development Workshops link (under 'Your Online Services'), find the session you are interested in and book.

If you want to book a place on an external event and it is eligible for central training funding to cover the costs you must contact Niki Smithson ext. 5172 before doing so.

Please arrive 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the course so that the session can start and finish on time. After the course you will be asked to complete an evaluation (usually by email). Please do so as it helps us to plan future courses.

If you have to cancel your place on a course please email as soon as you can and no later than two days before the course is due to run so that someone else can attend. Alternatively you can nominate a substitute - just let us know. Please note that a cancellation charge of £50 will be made to your Institute’s/Department's budget if you withdraw from a course without giving us sufficient notice.

If the Central Training Budget administered by the Human Resources Department has funded your attendance at an external training event, the cancellation fee will be set by the training provider and your department/Institute will be accountable. 

To register a specific training or development need which you would like to discuss or you have a suggestion for a session you would like, use the staff homepage  to log into your staff portal, click on the Staff Development Workshops link (under 'Your Online Services') and then enter your comments on the Wish List Tab.

If there is not enough demand for an advertised course we may have to postpone or cancel it. If, on the other hand, a course is oversubscribed we will try to repeat it.
