What is Skype for Business?
Skype for Business is an online communications platform that allows instant messaging, audio/video conferencing, meetings, webinars and file sharing. It allows staff to easily communicate with other staff, students and external contacts as long as they have internet access. It can be used from your office PC, teaching space or mobile device.
How do I get Skype for Business?
Skype for Business comes packaged with Office 2016 and is currently deployed to all University lectern PCs. If you do not have Office 2016 on your University office PC, please log a job on the ICT Service Desk. Skype for Business can also be installed on your phone, tablet, home PC or Mac.
What equipment do I need to use Skype for Business?
If you wish to use voice and video conferencing, a webcam and headset is required. The ICT department has a small number of webcams and USB speakerphones available for one off use. If you require your own equipment, this can currently be ordered through your department. Quotes for suitable equipment are available on request.
