Sue taught in Primary and Middle schools for 20+ years prior to starting her career at the University of Worcester. When working in schools Sue had a wide range of roles and responsibilities including Deputy Head and English coordinator. Sue also worked for her Local Authority as an advisor for English. As well as advising schools on many aspects of English teaching, Sue was also involved in and ran Local Authority phonics training sessions for teaching assistants. Sue’s role as Deputy Head included taking on many responsibilities, such as school governorship, behaviour management and developing the school grounds as well as mentoring trainee teachers, which led to Sue considering and then pursuing in Higher Education and Primary Teacher training. As 3rd year co-ordinator and PG tutor at University of Sue’s particular interest is supporting all trainees make a successful transition from full time education to employment as NQTs. An extensive programme of support and preparation for job applications and interviews is part of this role. In addition to her role as 3rd Year co-ordinator, Sue has also led English modules and supervises students in school, which involves working in close partnership with schools and teachers.
