The project that I will be undertaking is called “towards numerical forecasting of atmospheric concentrations of allergenic pollen from trees of the Fagales order in the United Kingdom”. The aim of the project is to develop a number of aspects of source based models in order to improve pollen forecasting in the United Kingdom. During my project I hope to produce a number of model components to be incorporated into the DEHM-Pollen Eulerian dispersion model developed by NERI in Denmark. These components will include: emission inventories of trees of the Fagales order; a quantification of phenological phases for trees of the Fagales order; phenological models for trees of the Fagales order; emission models for trees of the Fagales order.
