Kelly began her career in 2004 after completing an undergraduate degree in Tourism Management at the University of Birmingham. Whilst working in industry she undertook a Certificate in Education (CertEd) at the University of Birmingham and also became a part-time Lecturer at Sandwell College. After completing the CertEd in 2008 she joined Bournville College as a Lecturer. She was promoted to Career Academy in 2012 and again to her current role as Curriculum Manager for HE Business & Teacher Training in 2013. During this time Kelly began studying for a Doctorate in Education (EdD) in Leaders and Leadership in Education at the University of Birmingham where she is researching the journey to leadership in the Further Education sector.

As Curriculum Manager for the Lifelong Learning sector courses, Kelly is responsible for managing the full range of teacher training courses, including PTLLS, DTLLS, CET and DET. Her teaching responsibilities span Teacher Training, Travel & Tourism and Business courses, ranging from level 2 to level 5.

Outside of her teaching responsibilities, Kelly is a board member for Birmingham Science City as part of the Career Academies STEM initiative. Kelly facilitates networking events and also runs staff CPD sessions in areas such as Sharing Good Practice, Functional Skills and Career Academy specific training.

Kelly is passionate about innovation in teaching. She is an avid believer in introducing new technologies to the learning environment, and was privileged to have taken part in the Mole-Net project, using an iPod to explore the possibilities of its use in teaching and learning. She is eager to further explore mobile learning opportunities in order to add value to the learning experience.
