In her first role, Helen was PGCE Secondary PE lead and has taught lots of PE teachers throughout the county and beyond (including our own staff!). As Deputy Head of the School, Helen leads on Retention and Student Success ensuring that all students have a positive experience and progress into employment. Teaching & Research

Teaching Interests:

In academic modules, Helen teaches Philosophy of PE and how this impacts on the approach you might have when teaching young people. This includes utilising games-based models such as Teaching Games for Understanding, Sport Education and Teaching for Personal and Social Responsibility.  She is a subject specialist in Swimming, Trampolining and Badminton but generally considers herself as a jack of all trades, master of none!

Research Interests:

Helen is a joint lead on the Academic Integrity forum and Artificial Intelligence forum. As part of this she has led groups in reviewing and renewing processes and policy as well as presenting research on the impact and outcomes of the culture of academic integrity on staff and students.
