I am an advanced nurse practitioner in COPD and pulmonary rehabilitation, and continue to deliver pulmonary rehabilitation in tandem with my university role. I have extensive clinical experience in the community care of complex and advanced COPD patients and founded the Worcestershire COPD service, including pulmonary rehabilitation and the COPD choir. I also have considerable experience in initiating and implementing innovative service developments, some of which gained National reputation. I have previously been involved in a number of research studies exploring non-pharmaceutical interventions for people with COPD and am currently embarking on a research project in partnership with the British Lung Foundation looking at new easy access models of pulmonary rehabilitation.

I was co-author of the 2013 National NICE / British Thoracic Society Pulmonary rehabilitation guideline and Quality Standard. I was a committee member for the British Thoracic Society National Pulmonary rehabilitation audit, participating in designing the data sets and analysing the data. †I run a breathlessness walking group under the umbrella of the university and am looking at progressing this by utilising the universityís McClelland Centre. I welcome students with an interest in participating / conducting research within COPD / pulmonary rehabilitation to contact me as I can potentially offer support. Finally I am passionate about providing good quality healthcare for all patients and am never happier than when I am with people with illness providing hands on care.
