Deborah is a Principal Lecturer within the Institute of Education. She is a member of the Primary management team and is also the Primary Partnership Lead which enables her to work closely with school colleagues and the placement team. A module leader for PITE3001 (a third year undergraduate module linked to Values teaching) Deborah also teaches on the PGCE SSR research module where she oversees students who have chosen SEND as their area of interest. Additionally, she teaches on the third year undergraduate PRiSS research module again overseeing students who are choosing to focus on SEND.
With responsibility for the NQT support team Deborah enjoys close links with former students and is the nominated Primary safeguarding contact too.
Deborah joined the Institute of Education in September 2015. Prior to that, she worked for 25 years in a wide variety of school settings having taught in a one form entry Primary school with a nursery, a small, rural church school in addition to a large, urban, community Primary school. She was a class-based teaching deputy head teacher for 3 years and a head teacher at a school in Worcestershire for 11years during which time she also took the roles of SENCo and Safeguarding lead.
