Bill was appointed in September 2015 to start the University Of Worcester School Of Law which opened in September 2016 with its first cohort on the LLB (Hons) Law – a Qualifying Law Degree. As well as designing law programmes (such as the LLB (Hons) Law, LLB Hons) Law with Criminology and LLB (Hons) Law with Forensic Psychology, Bill has recruited an excellent law team comprising solicitors, barristers and legal academics who are all experts in their particular fields.  Bill has worked closely with many others in the wider University on the development of the Law Teaching facilities, which include a mock courtroom and worked with members of the law team to develop the University’s Legal Advice Centre.

Prior to his arrival in Worcester, Bill was at University of Greenwich where he was Programme Director of the LLB (Hons) Law Programme – and also the Greenwich LLM International and Commercial Law Programme in Hong Kong which he also set up.  Whilst at Greenwich, Bill was also heavily involved with the School of Law’s employability programme and worked with a wide variety of leading legal professionals including magic circle firms, leading sets of chambers, high ranking members of the judiciary, to set up and run a number of highly successful schemes involving mentoring, placement and internship opportunities.  Noting the fact that law students often choose to work in areas outside the legal profession, Bill also helped forge strong links with senior professionals in areas such as banking and compliance and also the police.

Bill’s back story is unconventional – a former student of Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, Bill trained at the Royal Academy of Music before embarking on a successful career as a professional violinist. Bill played with a number of leading orchestras, including the BBC Concert Orchestra and was in the orchestra of the West End production of Les Miserable for 7 years.
