A local newspaper journalist is graduating from the University of Worcester today.
Joshua Godfrey, who studied a BA (Hons) in Journalism and Politics, now works as a reporter on the Evesham & Worcester Observers.
Joshua said: “Getting a job so quickly after finishing university was more of a shock than anything, I didn't expect it at all. Without a shadow of doubt I would never have got the job if it wasn't for the Journalism course at the University of Worcester. From the expertise of the lecturers, to the facilities available to students, to the assignments and modules on offer, these all contributed to me being successful in my job hunt.
“I used the work I produced at university as my portfolio to show during my interview, which was key in securing my job. When I first started the Journalism course I had never written news stories before, now I'm working for a newspaper.”
Joshua is continuing his training on a day release basis with the National Council for the Training of Journalists course.
Joshua’s previous work experience placements included a four-week internship at the BBC’s MediaCity UK base in Salford and regular work on Gloucestershire community station, Radio Winchcombe.
