Abigail Dunnett

Abigail Dunnett, from Woodbridge, Suffolk, is celebrating after achieving First Class Honours in her degree.

The former pupil at Kesgrave High School, has just completed her BA (Hons) in Sociology at the University of Worcester.

The 21-year-old said: “I am thrilled to have achieved a First Class Honours degree. When I first saw my result, I felt a sense of relief knowing that all my hard work over the three years had paid off.”

Abigail said she chose to study in Worcester because of the opportunity to study part of her degree abroad, plus the structure of the course.

“It was even easier to make my final decision once I had visited the city, and the surrounding countryside,” she said. “I’ll never forget my time at Worcester, I have made some good friends. The biggest highlight for me was the exchange opportunity the University of Worcester offered me; I was able to study my second semester of my second year in Australia. This gave me the fantastic opportunity to become friends with other international students, study in a different environment and to experience Australia and its culture. It was actually this experience that helped me to decide the topic of Aboriginal culture for my dissertation.”

Abigail will start at the University of Edinburgh in September to study for a Masters degree in Sociology and Global Change.

“Following on from my postgraduate study, I hope to enter the field of academia and continue researching my areas of speciality within Sociology,” she said.
