Not sure what to do?

If you are not sure about what you want to do when you leave university, don't worry, you are not alone! Whether you have plenty of ideas about your future plans but don't know how to narrow these down, or you feel that you lack inspiration and need to generate some ideas, there are a few things you can do to help your career planning.

  • Think about yourself: consider what your strengths are, what you are interested in, and what are your motivations and values.
  • Think about your options: find out about what your options are when you leave. Consider work options, further study, self employment, volunteering, internships or a period of travel.
  • Planning your next steps: even if you are not sure about your longer term careers aims, gaining work experience or developing your skills through volunteering, travel or other interests can help you explore different careers areas and gain a sense of what would suit you.
